Repbase Update is an independent resource used by RepeatMasker and must be quoted separately whenever RepeatMasker is quoted. The most direct reference to Repbase Update is:

This version of Repbase Update is based on the March 2001 release (6.3). However, some sequences from the April 2001 release have also been added at the last minute. Please, note that proper credits to the original authors were removed due to limitations of the "fasta" format. For proper credits see the original EMBL version.
